Dragon Con is very pleased to announce its first special guest from the Japanese anime industry: Shinji Aramaki.
Mr. Aramaki is one of the leading anime directors and mecha designers in Japan, and he has been leading the trend towards full CG animation. After getting his start doing mecha designs for dozens of anime classics like for Gasaraki, Genesis Climber Mospeda, Megazone 23, Bubblegum Crisis, and Mobile Suit Gundam, he moved on to direct the 2004 feature film “Appleseed.” In 2007, John Woo joined Aramaki to produce the sequel, “Appleseed: Ex Machina” and in 2014 Aramaki premiered “Appleseed Alpha” at the Tokyo International Film Festival. In 2012, the development team of the Starship Troopers franchise tapped Aramaki to direct the CG animated film “Starship Troopers: Invasion.” In 2013, Aramaki was invited to debut “Space Pirate Captain Harlock” at the Venice International Film Festival.
